What this site collects

Visit statistics through Google Analytics: pages viewed, approximate location by country or city, device type, and which buttons were clicked (penny, dollar, share, checkout, signup). No card details are ever seen by this site.

Penny links (optional)

If you ask for a penny link, this site stores your email, the first name you typed (optional), the country of your connection, the time, whether you ticked the "show my first name" box, and which penny link brought you here, if any. That is used for three things: sending you a few updates a year about the experiment (every email has a one-click leave link), crediting your link with the visits, signups and pennies that come through it, and the Spreaders page, which shows first names only for people who ticked the box, with counts and country. Your email is never shown, sold or shared, and you can ask for it to be deleted by writing to [email protected].

Arriving through someone's penny link sets one small cookie (pref) for a year so the right person gets credit if you sign up or send a penny later. It holds the link code and nothing about you.

What it does not do

No passwords, no accounts. No cookie banner, because the only cookie beyond analytics is the penny-link credit above. No selling of visitor data. Google Analytics receives the visit statistics under Google's own policy, and the payment processors receive what you give them at checkout, as above. If you would rather not be counted, any content blocker stops the analytics script and the site works the same.

Payments

Card payments run on Stripe Checkout, PayPal payments on PayPal.Me, Venmo payments on Venmo, and crypto on the public blockchains. Each of those handles your card, account or wallet details under its own privacy policy. This site receives only a confirmation, the amount, the currency and the country of the card, and stores those in its ledger with the time and method. The public ledger shows time, method, amount and country. It never shows names, emails, card details or wallet addresses of senders.

Who runs this

This site is run by Chris, an individual, as a personal internet experiment. Contact: [email protected].
